ABOUT US

I was due to be born via c-section, my mother had 2 dates to chose from, 23rd of December (but she would be in hospital over Christmas and New Year) or the second week of January (but she would miss Crufts, the biggest dog show in the world). December 23rd was the beginning of my life with dogs.

Being born into a busy boarding kennels with a mother who trained and showed Belgian Shepherds has made me very lucky when it comes to knowledge and experience of dogs and showing.

I attended Reaseheath College, Compass and the Welsh College of Horticulture where I studied a City and Guilds in Kennel and Cattery Management, a National Diploma and a Higher National Diploma in Animal Care, a Certificate in Cynology and a Degree in Animal Behaviour and Welfare

In my childhood I did a lot of junior handling with my mothers Belgian Shepherds, in my teenage years I was known to show my mothers Siberian Huskies, Alaskan Malamutes and Border Collies.

In 2002 I started to judge Siberian Huskies.

I am now on judging lists for the following breeds Alaskan Malamutes, Siberian Huskies, Border Collies, Canadian Eskimo Dogs, Estrela Mountain Dogs and Lhasa Apsos and I have attended many health and breed seminars.

In 1999 together with my mother, Lynn Hardey (Blustag) we started on a journey that we are still travelling on today, but has led us to a place we never imagined when we started out.  The Tamaskan Dog was just two peoples idea of what a wolf should look like and how we could accomplish it without adding any wolf into the breed. Today the Tamaskan is a thriving breed of dog with breeders all over the world.

In 2005 I started the Tamaskan Dog Register and became the first secretary, a position I still hold. We also moved to Finland to pursue new bloodlines for the Tamaskan Dog.

Sadly the dog world is not always as it seems and unscrupulous breeding, deception and lies are a part of all dog breeds. Sometimes this is just a difference of opinion, sometimes is can seriously jepodise the reputation or health of a breed. I am determined to make this breed survive and I am very careful where my puppies go and who I buy from.  For a list of breeders I recommend please click HERE.

In 2006 after a accident falling from a dog rig I had to give up work and I then started concentrating more on my dogs, and the promotion of the Tamaskan breed. I started The Tamaskan Dog Society of Great Britain, The Tamaskan Dog Showing Club and Tamaskan Rescue UK and started the annual Tamaskan Dog Show (UK).

My love of both arctic rare breeds and showing led me to the little known Canadian Eskimo Dog. I purchased my first puppy from Ann Allen, Shepherdsway Snow Drifter at Blufawn (Riker). In 2008 I started the Canadian Eskimo Dog Club of Great Britain of which I am the Secretary.

I write the breed notes for Our Dogs and I also write articles for various newspapers, magazines, newsletters and booklets for all the breed clubs I am involved with. I am now working on my first full length book about the history of the Eskimo Dogs.

In April 2009 Riker made his showing debut and he has already achieved a lot, winning two group placings, a Res Best Dog and five Best Puppy AVNSC's by the time he was 7 months old. He is also in the lead for the Canadian Eskimo Dog Clubs Top Puppy Award 2009
